Gazebo Guidebook · Gazebo Kit Assembly cost guide
Professional assembly of a gazebo kit costs $500 to $1,500 in LawnLove's figure, on top of a kit that HomeGuide prices at $3,600 to $8,600 and a base that Angi prices at $4 to $8 per square foot for concrete. Heavy cedar kits, octagons, screens and carry-in access push assembly to the top of the range; a hardtop on a ready slab sits at the bottom.
The kit price is the easy number. The installed number is the kit, freight, the base, anchors, assembly labor, screens, finish on raw wood, electrical if any, and a return visit if the base was not ready. This page is about each of those lines and how they add up, so the assembly service page's checklist has prices attached. The cost table and the calculator's kit tier give figures for your footprint.
Angi's overall average of $4,708 and HomeAdvisor's $4,766 both include a large share of kit assemblies, which is why they sit well below Fixr's built-structure figures. MarketIntelo reports 34.7% of gazebos are sold online, and an online kit price is the start of the installed cost, not the end. The lines that follow are what turn one number into the other.
| Item | Low | High | Unit | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Professional assembly labor | $500 | $1,500 | flat | LawnLove; Inch Calculator gives $1,000 to $1,500 |
| Gazebo kit, materials only | $3,600 | $8,600 | flat | HomeGuide 2026 |
| Pre-built unit, delivered and installed | $5,000 | $14,500 | flat | HomeGuide 2026 |
| Concrete slab base | $4 | $8 | per sq ft | Angi 2026 |
| Screen kit | $500 | $800 | flat | Inch Calculator |
| Electrician for hardwired lights | $40 | $120 | per hour | Fixr 2025 |
LawnLove's $500 to $1,500 is the national span; Inch Calculator narrows it to $1,000 to $1,500 for a typical job. The newest figure is lower: Thumbtack's March 2026 data puts the average assembly job at $628, with most paying $460 to $860, and that is the right anchor for a small hardtop on a ready slab. Where a kit lands depends on weight, part count and shape. A 10-by-12 steel or aluminum hardtop with a manual and pre-drilled parts takes Wellwhisk's 10 to 20 hours for two people and sits at the bottom of the range. A 12-by-14 cedar kit with heavy beams and a shingled or aluminum roof takes a weekend and sits at the top; an octagonal cedar kit sits above it.
Crews price by the day, so the practical question is how many crew-days your kit takes. Ask the assembler for their estimate for your exact model; assemblers who have built the model before quote tighter and finish faster. The labor figure assumes the kit is on site, the base is ready and the route is clear, and each of those, if not true, adds a line.
| Kit type | Typical crew time | 2026 assembly labor |
|---|---|---|
| Small hardtop or simple kit (Thumbtack, Mar 2026) | Half a day to 1 day | $460 to $860; $628 average |
| 10-by-12 metal hardtop, ready slab | 1 day, 2 people | $500 to $900 |
| 12-by-12 cedar with aluminum roof | 1 to 2 days, 2 to 3 people | $900 to $1,500 |
| 12-by-14 cedar, shingled roof, screens | 2 to 3 days | $1,300 to $2,200 |
| Octagonal cedar or vinyl kit | 2 to 3 days | $1,500 to $2,500 |
Because the assembler is not a concrete contractor and the base has to cure before the kit arrives. Angi's flooring table gives a concrete slab at $4 to $8/sq ft, so a 120-square-foot pad runs roughly $500 to $1,000, and pavers at $10 to $17/sq ft though pavers still need footings under the posts to hold anchors. On lawn in a cold region, footings at each post with the kit's base plates bolted to them are the alternative and price per post.
The base is the line most often missing from a first quote and the one most often responsible for a paid return visit. Book the concrete a week or more before the assembly date so it has cured, have the anchor pattern from the manual on hand when it is poured, and confirm the slab thickness the manual specifies. The planning article covers how to check an existing patio before assuming it will do.

Freight is often included in the online price but delivery is curbside, which means a pallet at the end of the driveway. Carrying the boxes to the site is labor: a short flat route adds little, a long route with steps or a narrow gate can add a half day. Ask the assembler to include carry-in for your route, with photos, and to state whether they or you check the boxes against the packing list before the driver leaves. Missing and damaged parts are the most common delay on a kit job, and a return visit to fit a replacement panel is usually charged.
Packaging removal is a real line on a cedar kit: a pallet, cardboard, foam and strapping that fills a pickup. Some assemblers include it, some leave it curbside. Finish on a raw cedar kit is another: many ship unfinished, and a first coat before or right after assembly is a few hundred dollars in material plus labor, the same interval Amish Wholesale Gazebos describes thereafter, every 1 to 2 years.
A model-specific screen kit is Inch Calculator's $500 to $800 in product cost plus a couple of hours to fit; it only works if the floor seals to the base, which a slab does and pavers do not. Electrical is a licensed electrician at Fixr's $40 to $120 an hour and a separate permit; assembly crews connect the kit's plug-in or low-voltage lights and nothing more. A conduit trenched before the slab is poured keeps a circuit and two fixtures near $900; after the slab, the trench goes around it and the cost rises.
Roofing upgrades on kits are limited to what the manufacturer offers; a shingled cedar kit can later take metal at Angi's $5 to $30/sq ft, but most hardtops ship with their panels. Where a kit offers a polycarbonate or a double-roof option, the upgrade is usually a few hundred dollars at order time and much more as a retrofit.
The rating does not change the assembly price; it changes whether the kit is the right purchase. Yardistry's Meridian at 36 psf / 65 mph and SUNJOY's tiers of 50 / 70 / 100 mph show the spread; a kit under your county's load is a total loss, not a saving. Lead time changes the schedule and sometimes the price: Yardistry lists 6 to 12 weeks for assembly service on its cedar model, and a kit that arrives in peak season competes with every deck for the same crew.
Ordering in winter for spring assembly usually gets a better crew rate and avoids summer backorders. If a permit is needed, the fee, from HomeAdvisor's up to $150 to Fixr's roughly $450, applies to a kit as it does to a build, though many jurisdictions accept the manufacturer's rating letter and process a kit permit faster. Book the assembler when the kit is ordered, not when it arrives, so the lead time and the crew's calendar line up.

Three typical installed budgets: a 10-by-12 metal hardtop on an existing slab at $3,600 to $6,500 all-in; a 12-by-12 cedar kit with aluminum roof on a new slab at $6,500 to $11,000; a 12-by-14 cedar kit with shingles, screens, finish and a circuit on a new slab at $9,500 to $15,000. HomeGuide's pre-built delivered units at $5,000 to $14,500 are the alternative to the middle and top budgets where access allows.
Cut in this order: screens, then finish labor if you will do it yourself, then the composite or upgraded floor, then the model's roof upgrade. Do not cut the base, the anchors or the parts check; each of those is a small share of the total and the cause of most expensive kit failures. If the installed total approaches the custom alternative at the same interior, price both through the estimate request.

For most people the value is the base check, the anchoring and the time. A crew that has built the model knows which steps go wrong, brings the right lifting help for beams, and anchors to the manual's specification. Wellwhisk's 10 to 20 hours for a hardtop is two people for a long weekend; a first-time builder often takes longer and is the person who discovers the slab is too thin halfway through.
The anchors usually, the base almost never. Assemblers set the base plates and drill for the anchor bolts the manual specifies, but they expect a cured slab or footings to be there. Angi prices a slab at $4 to $8 per square foot. Ask the assembler to confirm the base requirement for your model in writing, and book the concrete a week ahead of assembly.
Commonly a half-day rate, a few hundred dollars, plus any wait. The way to avoid it is a parts check against the packing list before the freight driver leaves, and a decision about who does that check. If the assembler supplies the kit, the short box is their problem; if you buy it, the replacement claim is yours and the return visit is usually billable. Ask each bid how it handles this.
Not usually in kit price, since many assemblers buy at the same retail price, but it can be cheaper overall because the parts problem becomes theirs and freight may be bundled. Some assemblers add a handling margin. Ask for the installed price both ways: kit supplied by you, kit supplied by them, with the return-visit terms for each.
More, because the deck must be checked for the added load and the posts bear on blocking or through-bolted to joists rather than on decking, and the anchoring differs from a slab. Expect the top of LawnLove's range plus a carpenter's time for blocking, and possibly an engineer's look on an older deck. The calculator's complex site setting reflects deck-mounted work.
HomeGuide lists pre-built units delivered and installed at $5,000 to $14,500, against a kit at $3,600 to $8,600 plus assembly at $500 to $1,500. The pre-built unit usually has heavier members and a higher rating, and no assembly day, but needs a straight delivery route or a crane. On the same base and interior, expect the pre-built unit to cost about what a top-end kit does installed.
Cedar kits mostly ship raw and some makers offer a factory finish for a few hundred dollars more, which is usually cheaper than a first coat on site. Vinyl and metal kits ship finished. A raw cedar kit needs its first coat in the first season and then the interval Amish Wholesale Gazebos describes, every 1 to 2 years; budget that as a recurring cost rather than a one-time line.
Custom Gazebo Construction · Cost guideCustom gazebo construction cost in 2026A custom-built gazebo costs $60 to $100 per square foot installed in HomeGuide's 2026 guide and $75 to $100 in Fixr's, so a 10-by-10 lands near $7,500 to $10,000 and a 12-by-12 near $10,800 to $14,400.
Gazebo Restoration & Repair · Cost guideGazebo restoration and repair cost in 2026Gazebo repairs price as a list: shingle re-roofing at $3 to $5 per square foot and metal at $5 to $30 in Angi's 2026 table, a prefab screen kit at $500 to $800, post replacement at a few hundred dollars per post, and a finish job on a 10 to 12 foot wood structure up to about $1,500.
